Wayfinding & Directional Signs

Pasta Grains Herbs - Hand-painted wayfinding signage

For businesses, venues, and public spaces

Good wayfinding is invisible in the best possible way. When it's working, people move through a space confidently and without frustration, without consciously noticing how they knew to go left or where to find the exit. When it fails — when signs are generic, cluttered, or just missing — the result is confusion, and confusion is always a bad experience.

Hand-painted wayfinding signs solve a problem that printed or digital alternatives often don't: they suit the environment. A set of directional signs painted in the voice of the building — its colours, its typography, its character — feels considered rather than installed. It makes the space feel more coherent, and it reflects well on whoever runs it.

Delicious Signs has produced wayfinding signage for venues, offices, healthcare environments, educational spaces, and public-facing locations across London. The work ranges from simple room-name lettering to multi-level directional systems with arrow panels, floor indicators, and accessible wayfinding elements.

Every wayfinding project starts with a site visit and a conversation about the space: how people arrive, where they need to go, what the decision points are, and what the existing visual environment looks like. From there, the design is developed — usually in close collaboration with the client's facilities team, architect, or interior designer — and agreed before any painting begins.

Hand-painted wayfinding can be applied directly to walls, doors, floors, and structural elements, or produced on boards, panels, or other fixtures that are then installed on-site. For temporary or changeable elements, removable or panel-based solutions are available.

The result is signage that functions reliably, looks like it belongs, and doesn't need replacing every time a reprint comes back with the wrong pantone. It's also, genuinely, nicer to look at — which matters more than people often admit.

Previous wayfinding commissions include work for NHS Barts Health, Islington Council, and various commercial and hospitality clients. Get in touch to discuss your space.
